HOD of Land and Atmospheric Resources (LAR)

"Welcome to the Department of Land and Atmospheric Resources (LAR) of the Faculty of Natural Resources (FNR). LAR is an academic department that exists to provide higher education, training and research in the field of integrated land and water resources management, climate science and environmental management. LAR provides excellence in the delivery of learning to ensure that it produces quality graduates for the society through innovative teaching and research. The department offers interdisciplinary programs with teaching, research and service areas mainly being: land and water resources management; environmental management; climate variability and change; natural and managed ecosystems; the sources, transport, and fate of pollutants in soil, air, and water; developing sustainable practices to ensure high quality agricultural products; and modeling the complex interactions between the land, water and atmosphere within the context of environmental management and improved agricultural and food production systems. LAR brings together natural heritage management, land use planning, water management, environmental management, climate science, bio-diversity conservation, and future sustainability of industries like agriculture, mining, tourism, fisheries and forestry."
