"We extend a warm welcome to you. The Veterinary Science department is at the heart of the agriculture space and has been since the inception of BUAN. The department cherishes its role of training the workforce that keeps Botswana at the forefront of the livestock industry in Africa and arguably the world. Our flagship qualification is the Higher Diploma in Animal Health and Production, but our staff offer courses for many other qualifications in the University. The department participates in trainings at Meat Industry Training Institute at Lobatse as well as at the Centre for Inservice and Continuing Education where it offers short courses on Livestock Health.In the future the department expects to expand its offerings to include a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Biomedical Sciences, MSc in Veterinary Epidemiology, MSc in Veterinary Public Health, and PhD in Veterinary Sciences. In preparation, the department currently has qualified staff including professors, lecturers, instructors, laboratory, and field assistants.
